Asthma Clinic

We have a separate asthma clinic at our hospital where well-versed doctors of Sahyadri Hospital perform physical exams to analyze the condition of respiratory infection and COPD in patients. They also ask questions relating to the sign and symptoms that lead to such conditions. You can control asthma by two methods first by avoiding the trigger and second by taking proper medications.

  • Avoiding the triggers: Asthma patients are able to control their condition to a large extent by identifying the conditions that trigger their asthma attack. The work does not finish by identifying you also have to take preventive measures to minimize these triggers at home, school or office. However, if you fall under the condition where you cannot avoid the trigger, pre-treatment will help you with the symptoms.
  • Taking Asthma medicines: Many patients suffering from chronic asthma conditions can decrease their inflammation by taking their medicines responsibly. Even research shows that taking prescribed drugs regularly can decrease your risk of undergoing an asthma attack and prevent it in many cases. So if the doctor is suggesting you take the medication regularly, you must take it as prescribed. Do not miss it for anything.

In certain conditions, the patient might also get triggered by the environment or some specific situations. For your reference, we have mentioned some of the triggers below:

  • Exercise: When working out, you may face breathing problems due to increased movement.
  • Allergens: Pollen, dust mites and animal dander are just a few of the allergens that trigger asthma symptoms.
  • Illness: Some of the respiratory problems can also trigger asthma attacks. These include flu, viruses, pneumonia, etc.
  • Emotions: Emotions can too trigger the symptoms of asthma-like shouting, crying, laughing, etc.
  • Irritants in the air: People having asthma problems may be sensitive to an irritant in the air like strong odors, chemical fumes, and smoke.
  • Extreme weather: Very high temperature or very humid conditions can trigger asthma symptoms inpatient.

Pulmonary Cancer

Pulmonary cancer begins in your lungs. Lungs are the two spongy-like organs present in the chest that help us inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Lung cancer is prevalent among the world’s population and one of the leading reasons for deaths due to cancer.

Moreover, people who have a habit of smoking are relatively at a greater risk to suffer from lung cancer than individuals who never smoked. In addition, the risk of you getting lung cancer keeps on increasing with time as the number of cigarettes you have smoked increases. However, if you quit, you can significantly reduce your chance of getting cancer, even if you were a chain smoker.

We at Sahyadri provide treatment for lung cancer. First, our trained professionals run a couple of diagnosis tests like imaging tests, biopsy and cytology to find the cause of cancer. After carefully analyzing the lab reports, the doctors develop the best treatment guide for you.

COPD Clinic

COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a severe inflammatory disorder. This disease often results in obstruction of the airflow in and out of the lungs. Moreover, the symptoms suffered by COPD patient includes cough, breathing problem, wheezing and mucus production. It generally develops as a result of long-term exposure to harmful gases or other particulate matter, for example, cigarettes. COPD patients also have a higher risk of developing heart problems, pulmonary cancer and various other medical conditions.

COPD is a type of lung disease that usually does not develop until the lung has been damaged severely and worsened over with time. Moreover, patients having COPD are likely to suffer from episodes also known as exacerbations, during which their condition gets even worse. These episodes can persist for several days.

We at Sahyadri provide effective treatment to control the conditions of COPD. Our highly-trained specialist first looks into your chest or lung by using radiography and then diagnose it. They check the maximum airflow at a given volume of the lungs through spirometry. Also, they carry out multiple function tests to come up with the best treatment of the lungs.

Allergy Clinic

Our hospital has a separate department for Allergy and Immunology to provide the best diagnostic facility and top-class clinical excellence. As a result, we can deliver effective and long-lasting solutions to every patient relating to allergies and all other medical problems damaging the immune system.

People develop allergies when their immune systems react because of coming in contact with a foreign substance like bee venom, pollen, or pet dander. Some people also develop reactions from food. When you develop allergies, your immune system starts producing a substance called antibodies. These antibodies are able to identify the allergen and declare them harmful even though they aren’t. As a result, when your body comes in contact with these allergens, your body reacts to them and starts developing sinuses, inflammation of the skin, digestive and airway problems.

The area where you will experience allergies depends on the substance because of which you are developing allergies. For example, if it’s caused by food, you may experience swelling in the throat, lips, tongue, and tingling in the mouth. However, if it is an insect sting, the swelling may appear in a large area, itchiness all over the body and anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening condition which develops in extreme condition, so it is better to treat it as soon as possible.

Smoker Clinic

Smoking is a well-known cause of death for a lot of diseases. It can shorten your life for up to 16 years, yet many people are unable to quit it even after knowing all these facts. Smoking contributes to the majority of risks relating to heart and lungs problem.

Sahyadri Hospital has set up a separate department to help the smoker quit their deadly habit and educate patients about all the risk involved. This clinic is run by experienced senior professionals of the Cardiology department who are experts in providing assistance and solution to quit smoking.

Our main focus is to create a positive environment for smokers, so they do not feel the urge to smoke. Moreover, we create awareness of how quitting this habit can improve their condition. We help them with their addiction to nicotine. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance; it is the main reason people cannot quit smoking even if they want to.

Our professionals design a quit smoking program for every patient after analyzing his condition, level of addiction, and medical problems. Apart from therapy, medications and counseling, the professionals also look into the patients’ lifestyle and suggest if there is any need for change. By following the doctors’ instructions, many people have successfully left the habit of smoking and living a wonderful life.
